RE: seneca switch

It is the emergency start switch. Sure wish they had put the engine exhaust brake switch next to the OD switch in this same panel, it sure would be easier to reach than across to where it is now located. We added the SuperSprings instead of the 19K springs and they did help. We feared the 19K springs might produce too harsh a ride.

RE: Jayco Seneca: review after 10K

vasselta,
We have had similar experiences with our Seneca 34SS which we bought 11 months ago. It has been in the shop for almost half the time we have owned it. All of the problems could have been caught by a good quality control department before leaving the factory.
And, Jayco's supposed great customer service must have evaporated. We have had rather snooty replies to emails and we have found they usually just don't return promised phone calls. We would sure think twice before buying another Jayco product.

RE: Suspension upgrades on 07 Seneca HD 35GS

8KCAB,
Ours is also on a 2006 chassis and was built about a month earlier than yours. Since they were built after Oct, 2006, I believe Chevy lists them as 2007 models. If you would like a "build sheet" for your rig go to The Diesel Place at http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=72 and request a VIN check. Within a few days you will have all the RPO codes and lots of other information specific to your MH. Also, presuming yours is so equipped, The Diesel Place has tons of information on the Duramax motor.

RE: Suspension upgrades on 07 Seneca HD 35GS

8KCAB,
Look behind the driver's sun visor in the cab and you will find the RPO codes specific to your rig. If you find one with GQO you have the 15K rear springs. If you find GN2 you have the 19K springs according to GM's 2007 Online Order/Reference Guide.
I agree with everything that ASA Glamis said in his post, except, I've added all those upgrades plus a front trac bar and my Seneca still doesn't handle quite right. I've heard a lot of good comments about adding a rear sway bar in addition to the stock one and that is what I'm considering next.

RE: Onan Exhaust Fumes at the Wrong Time

We had the bathroom vent open (but with it's fan off) and the cabover vent open with it's Fantastic fan on low pushing air out in order to pull fresh air from the bathroom through the rig at all times while the AC was running.
Is this customary? I always thought the rig should be closed up so the cooled air could recirculate without introducing warm air.

RE: Inverter Brand in Jayco Greyhawk 27DS

The key to having a successful TV situation up front is to replace the 14" flat tube with a newer LCD--otherwise, you will have to fire up the generator before turning on the inverter for the TV, then shutting the generator down once the TV comes on-?!-
I wonder if this has been the problem with mine? Is this because of a high inrush current when the TV is turned on? I've been suspecting this and wondering if a larger capacity inverter would be the answer.

Good old La Honda. We grew up in Redwood City and passed through La Honda on the way to the beach whenever we cut school.

vwlovr,
We use a local recycling company that has an 80 foot scale. Costs about $10. La Honda, CA, is that just west of Woodside?

RE: Inverter Brand in Jayco Greyhawk 27DS

Not sure about your MH, but our 2007 Jayco Seneca has a Xanterra 400 watt inverter installed on the floor under the bedroom closet. It powers only the entertainment center outlets and is, IMO, too small to do the job. We are on our fourth attempt, via our dealer, to get one that works. Thank goodness for Jayco's 2 year warranty.

RE: weight distribution

Our Seneca 34SS weighed with normal camping gear, clothes, food, 3/4 Fuel, 1/3 Water, 5 /8 Propane, driver, one passenger and 3 small dogs:
LF = 3060 - RF = 3100 - Front Axle = 6,160
LR = 6660 - RR = 6760 - Rear Axle = 13,420
It is time to weigh it again as we have since collected more "stuff" and added a satellite dome.

RE: Sway Bar for front of Super C Kodiak

Thanks again dcowley, I'll surely look into that Roadmaster rear sway bar. I also have the Super Springs and believe they, and the other mods, did help somewhat.

RE: Sway Bar for front of Super C Kodiak

dcowley,
Thanks for the info on the Roadmaster rear sway bar. I do have the rear trac bar and the stock Kodiak rear sway bar. Is the rear Roadmaster sway bar in addition to the stock one or does it just replace the stock one?
Thanks,
Paul

RE: Sway Bar for front of Super C Kodiak

DFave,
I've added a Roadmaster front track bar and their front anti sway/roll bar plus Koni shocks and a Safe-T-Plus steering damper and it still handles and steers like a piece of c*^p.
I've lowered the front tire pressures to 85 psi and may be able to lower them further but I cannot find the load/inflation table specific to the Goodyear G107 tires that came with the chassis. The front axle is carrying 6220 lbs but I'd feel more comfortable knowing what these tires can carry before lowering pressure any more. I also need to get a wheel alignment as it has not been done since the chassis left Chevy sans the Seneca body.
Keep us posted as to what you do and if it helped.

RE: 2008 Seneca Ice Maker Cutoff Location

I'm not sure where that water shutoff valve is either, but think it maybe under the kitchen sink near where the water filter attaches. I'd check my Seneca for you, but it is still in the dealer's repair shop where it seems to reside a lot.

RE: Tech questions - cable tv in 08 Seneca 36fs

On our 2007 34SS the TV booster switch is located on the plastic cover plate where the coax cable from the TV attaches. This plate is in the cabinet next to the DVD player. There is also a little green light on the plate that lights when the booster is boosting.

Everything I've read about the stock Kodiak air filter is that is flows very well and an after market one is not indicated.

RE: Alcoa Wheels

I really don't have a problem checking or adding air to our Alcoa rims using a dual footed gauge and a dual footed chuck. We also have the Tire Sentry TPMS and the wheel sensors are a bit difficult on the outer rear wheel but do-able with a little practice.
